The Master Saddler – Maurice Napper SMS
Maurice has been a saddler for the past 35years and not only produces the finest handmade leatherwork and saddles but one of his saddle designs is actually produced by Kings Saddlery. In 1980 Maurice and Jean Napper founded Horse and Rider a business which they sold two years ago, since then Maurice has traded under the name of West Country Bridle Makers and now is an integral part of Houghton Saddlery.The Products
We currently hold a stock of approximately 100 new and used saddles many of which are handmade by Maurice plus brands including Kings, Albion, Stubben, Jefferies, Thorowgood, Wintec, Bates and other lesser known makes. If we don’t hold the exact saddle your looking for in stock we’ll do our best to get it for you. All new saddles are sold with a free post sale flocking adjustment and you’re welcome to try before you buy.
Saddle Fitting
Ensuring your saddle fits correctly is not only essential for comfort and safety but an adjusted saddle will cost a lot less than a new one!! By appointment Rachel will happily come to you and take the exact measurements that Maurice will need to make any adjustments.
The Bridlework
We have a substantial range of branded bridles and reins including Jefferies, Stubben, IV Horse and Collegiate, as well as reins, bridles and bridle components that are all made on site. Should you not be able to find something that meets your requirement we will make exactly what you need to your specification.
Repairs
Rug Laundry; we are a drop off/collection for point for the Equine Laundry Service in Callington.
As well as manufacturing our own fine saddles and bridlework we happily undertake any repairs to your existing tack and equipment. Not only do we repair bridles, reins and rugs as we’ve been known to repair bungee jumping assesories, rugby training equipment, biking leathers, boots, bags and hats.
